General information and airport services

Vnukovo Airport (VKO) opened in 1941 and currently services more than 200 charter carriers and also about 450 commercial aviation companies. Moscow Vnukovo offers access  to domestic flights in Russian regions, the Far East, Siberia, the Caucasus and international flights into neighboring countries, the Baltic States, Western Europe, Asia and Africa.

Vnukovo Russia handles about 100 thousand flights per year and services more than 7.5 million passengers.  More than 150 Vnukovo airport transfer airlines use the airport's services. The landing strips can accommodate about 100 air vessels from small business aircraft to large airliners.

Moscow Vnukovo is located above sea level (205 meters), which makes it possible for aircraft to land even under complex weather conditions. State-of-the-art electronics and equipment ensure safety even when landing with restricted visibility.

Vnukovo Moscow is only 11 km from MKAD and 28 km from the center of Moscow. Motorists can reach the airport from the Kiev highway, but it is also accessible from the Minsk and Borovskiy highway. Many bus routes lead to the airport and electric trains depart from the “Kiev” metro station.

Airport terminals: “Vnukovo- V”, “Vnukovo- D”

Vnukovo airport houses two terminals, connected by passageways: international flights leave from terminal “V”, and domestic flights use terminal “D.” Both buildings have state-of-the-art equipment and special elevators and ramps for people with disabilities and special needs.

Terminal “V” was built in 2004 and is the newest building of its type in Russia. There are three separate levels for passengers. At the first level of terminal “V” passengers check in, at the second there are services for departure and arrivals, and on the third level there is a special room for passengers from the first and business classes.

 

Check-in

Checking in for domestic flights transfer from Moscow Vnukovo pick-up should be initiated 2 hours prior to departure and completed 30-40 minutes prior to departure. For international flights, passengers should check in 2 hours prior to departure and check-in closes 40 minutes before departure. Document control takes place at the counter on the first floor by the sign. Passengers from the first and business class check in at a separate counter.

After customs control and check-in, passengers pass through security and are allowed into separate waiting rooms. From this area, it is possible to visit the cafes and restaurants or to buy souvenirs and gifts.

 

The VIP room at Vnukovo airport

Passengers can pay an additional charge and use the services of the VIP room.
VIP room customers go through customs at an expedited rate, but should still arrive at the airport an hour and 10 minutes prior to departure. In the VIP lounge there is a cafe and restaurant, telephones and office equipment. VIP customers are provided a separate entrance and may use their personal transport to drive directly to the terminal. VIP passengers are escorted to airport departure areas in comfortable microbuses or luxury cars.

 

Airport Services

On the first floor of the terminals, there are check-in counters, customs control, a first aid station, information panels, restrooms, storage area, mail and telegraph services, a barbershop and currency exchange. On the second floor are the airline offices, cafes and restaurants, duty-free stores and a pharmacy kiosk.

In the Vnukovo airport terminals, tickets for other transportation can be purchased for rail and other ground transportation. Intercity communication is available in terminal “V” and Internet is accessible using prepaid Wi-Fi cards sold in the first floor lounge.

If a flight is delayed, passengers with small children can use the special room for mothers with small children. There are beds for the children, changing stations and play stations.  In order to be granted access to the mother and child room, you must first pass the checkpoint at the first aid station.

Passengers with disabilities can obtain assistance from airport employees during their wait at Moscow Vnukovo.

 

Parking

There are many two-story parking areas at the airport that can accommodate 350 automobiles each.  200 spaces of open parking are also offered.  It is free to wait in your car for 15 minutes, but longer stays must be paid by the hour or day at the parking lots. There is also long term parking available in the closed area.

 

Hotels

An inexpensive hotel with 200 rooms is located adjacent to the airport. In the rooms, there are are amenities including a refrigerator and television. The hotel also offers taxi services, railroad tickets purchases, first aid, local and long distance telephones, fax, barbershop, bar and restaurant, as well as a lounge to rest in after a game at the billiards table.
